The new Activity Centre at Goldcrest House is more than just a refurbished space—it’s a place for growth, social connection, and personal enrichment.
Whether engaging in a sensory break, learning new skills, reading a book, or creating a masterpiece, every element has been designed with inclusivity, accessibility, and engagement in mind.
With thanks to its creator, Programme Facilitator Molly the multi-functional Activity Centre is aninclusive, engaging, and supportive environmenttailored to the diverse needs of those Goldcrest House care for. With carefully considered features, this space has been designed to enhancelearning, social interaction, life skills development, and emotional well-being.
The sensory room and sensory corner are designed to provide a calming retreat, helping individuals regulate their emotions and reduce anxiety or sensory overload. A book nook provides a quiet, low-stimulation space where individuals can immerse themselves in books, stories, or information about their favourite topics.
Now with a new floor learning area a more flexible and relaxed approach to education and skill-building allows individuals to engage with educational activities, group discussions, and problem-solving tasks in a way that feels natural and comfortable.
The addition of the crafting table is a major focal point for creative expression allowing everyone to express themselves through painting, colouring, cutting, sticking and seasonal crafts. And independence levels are also developing in meal preparation, cooking and baking as the activity room kitchenette provides a safe and structured space to take part.
“All in all, it’s a huge success and we can’t wait to share more updates as new activities and experiences are added.” Said Molly.
