February might be the shortest month of the year, but at Genhawk it’s packed with warmth, laughter and those little moments that make a house feel like home.

This month, we embraced three much-loved calendar highlights; Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year and Pancake Day, using each one as a chance to connect, create, learn something new and enjoy shared experiences together.

We began the month by celebrating Valentine’s Day in a way that felt truly “Genhawk”: thoughtful, creative and community focused. Our Valentine’s craft sessions were all about making personalised cards and decorations. Everyone had the chance to design a card to send to a special someone.

Alongside the cards, we created Valentine’s decorations to dress our dining rooms in a fitting style for the much-anticipated Valentine’s meal with friends. Bright colours, heart-shapes and handmade details transformed the space into something welcoming.

Next came Chinese New Year, bringing an exciting opportunity to explore a tradition many of us were curious about. We started by learning about the animals of the Chinese, comparing personalities and having a lot of fun discovering which animal matched each person’s birth year.

We then brought the celebration to life through craft activities inspired by the occasion, including making Chinese lanterns. The hands-on creativity gave everyone a chance to express themselves while taking part in something new.

And of course, no celebration is complete without a treat, so we rounded things off with a Chinese takeaway, enjoyed together as a house. It was a brilliant way to mark the occasion.

The final treat of the month came with Pancake Day, always a favourite, and this year was no exception. We used Pancake Day as a chance to explore our senses and talk about the toppings we most enjoyed. From sweet classics to personal favourites, it was a sensory experience filled with choice, taste, and plenty of laughter as everyone compared their “perfect pancake” combination.

What stands out most about February at Genhawk isn’t just the events themselves, it’s the way they brought people together. Each activity offered something different, from creativity, learning, celebration, sensory exploration, to friendship and shared meals.

Trish Patrickson, Manager at Genhawk said: “These moments matter. They create routine, spark conversation, build confidence and strengthen relationships helping everyone feel included, valued and connected. As we move into March, we’re taking that same uplifting energy with us, ready for more shared experiences, more creativity, and more reasons to smile.”
